Action to Care for Mount Lewotobi Eruption, Thousands of Herbal Komix Sachets and Masks Distributed to Refugees

PT Bintang Toedjoe through the Komix Herbal Brand handed over masks and herbal medicine products at the emergency post on Monday (11/11/2024) for further distribution to refugees.

Lewotobi Laki-laki Mount experienced its first eruption on Monday (4/11/2024) and was reported by the official account of the Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation, to have erupted several times on Sunday (10/11/2024). According to the BNPB report, residents around Lewotobi Laki-laki Mount  are advised not to conduct any activities within a radius of 7 km from the eruption center.

In addition, an appeal was also given to refugees to wear a mask  or nose-mouth covering to avoid the dangers of volcanic ash that can impact the respiratory system. Eruption ash can threaten health, especially the respiratory system of affected residents. Preventive efforts need to be made, such as the use of masks. In addition, the availability of herbal cough medicine is an anticipatory step that needs to be taken. Komix Herbal is also present in the midst of the community affected by the eruption of Mount Lewotobi. As a form of caring action, the representative of Kupang Area of PT Bintang Toedjoe, Mr. Ferry Ridho Arizandy Tarigan handed over Komix Herbal products and also masks at the refugee post.

It is hoped that the assistance provided can facilitate efforts to meet the needs of the community to stay healthy and avoid respiratory tract infections due to volcanic dust. "Hopefully this caring action can be useful for residents affected by the eruption and maintain their health," he added.

Komix Herbal is a herbal cough medicine made from natural red ginger and lagundi leaves. Lagundi leaves (Vitex Negundo) are one of the herbs that contain active compounds such as flavonoids, alkaloids, and triterpenoids which have anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, and expectorant effects. Because of these efficacies, lagundi leaves have been used in traditional medicine to relieve coughs.
