As a generation that is up-to-date with information, Gen-Z needs to be equipped with education to be more discerning about the information they receive on social media, so they are not easily misled by health hoaxes online.
The Production Manager of Banjarmasin Post, R. Hari Tri Widodo, discussed being wise in media use. “If you come across information that requires validation of its accuracy, there are various tools that can be utilized, or you can verify it with the source cited through their official account, which usually labels any misleading information as a hoax,” he explained.
The talkshow event was interactive, evidenced by the high enthusiasm from students through their questions directed at the speakers.
The session concluded with a presentation on drugs and the dangers of their misuse by Rosna Elviani, SKM., MM., Chair of P2M BNN of Banjarmasin City, who provided tips on how to avoid the dangers of narcotics.
Public Relations Officer of PT Bintang Toedjoe, Zaini Ahsan Prahendra, in his opening remarks, addressed why herbal discussions are important.
“As we know, Korea has globally renowned ginseng. Indonesia has red ginger, which has significant potential to gain worldwide recognition. Additionally, current advancements in digital technology have rapidly developed, and if not managed wisely, it can become a double-edged sword that may also lead to legal issues. This is something that needs to be educated to Gen Z specifically,” he said.
Furthermore, Zaini hopes that the herbal education from various speakers will provide substantial benefits for Gen-Z.
The Chair of the OSIS at SMAN 1 Banjarmasin also expressed appreciation for this event, stating, “Today’s event by Komix Herbal and PT Bintang Toedjoe was truly extraordinary. We gained a lot of knowledge, especially about herbal remedies for self-medication. I hope that we, the Gen Z generation and beyond, will become a healthy generation,” expressed Nareswari.
Komix Herbal is a herbal cough medicine made from natural ingredients of red ginger and lagundi leaves. Lagundi leaves (Vitex Negundo) are one of the herbs that contain active compounds such as flavonoids, alkaloids, and triterpenoids, which have anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, and expectorant properties.
