Universitas Sari Mulia Visits PT Bintang Toedjoe: Exploring the Modern Herbal Industry and Innovative Technology

Cikarang, August 14, 2025 – PT Bintang Toedjoe (B7) welcomed a special visit from students and lecturers of Universitas Sari Mulia Banjarmasin for a company visit to B7’s production facility at the Cikarang Site. The activity served as a valuable learning platform for students to gain direct insights into how the modern herbal industry operates, maintaining high-quality standards while implementing the latest technologies.

During the visit, participants were guided through the production area via the viewing gallery by the B7 team, where they observed firsthand the application of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), quality control systems, and integrated operational management. The students also had the opportunity to engage in discussions and ask questions about production processes, quality management, and technological innovations applied at B7.

One of the main highlights of the visit was a mini talk show titled “From Quality to Efficiency: The Impact of PAT in Manufacturing.” In this session, speaker apt. Andriani Devi Wijayanti, S. Farm., Quality Control Supervisor of B7 Cikarang Site, explained the role of PAT (Process Analytical Technology) as a scientific approach that enables real-time monitoring of production processes. The application of PAT ensures product quality from the initial to the final stages of production, while also improving efficiency and reducing potential deviations.

The students of Universitas Sari Mulia gained valuable insights into how process analysis technology accelerates decision-making, enhances consistency in quality, and supports sustainability within the pharmaceutical industry. The interactive discussion during the talk show also emphasized the importance of collaboration between academia and industry in driving innovations that are relevant to society’s needs.

In addition, the delegation visited the Red Ginger Garden, one of B7’s signature initiatives in developing premium herbal raw materials. At the site, students learned about seedling cultivation, farming techniques, and maintenance of red ginger—the key ingredient in many B7 products—alongside other herbal plants. This session highlighted the importance of a sustainable herbal supply chain, from cultivation to processing in the industry.

This company visit is expected to inspire and broaden the students’ perspectives on best practices within the herbal industry, particularly through the integration of advanced technology and sustainable approaches.
